Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world and a tremendous world of contrasts. It offers a spectacular coastline of clear waters, rocky headlands, sandy beaches and a landscape carved from 10,000 years of wind, water and time. You will see some wonderful geologic formations including massive cliffs, diabase dykes, pillow formations and glacial striations. Forests are a deep green boreal and transitional mix interspersed with rare arctic disjunct plants including Butterwort. We visit Till Creek Falls, the Park’s tallest and least accessible falls. Along with a wide variety of wildlife including, moose, fox, beaver and otter, we may be fortunate to see Woodland Caribou and Peregrine Falcons in the Gargantua area. The Native heritage along this trip is rich and includes Pukaskwa Pits, "Nanabush" Rock (Devil’s Chair) and Devil’s Warehouse Island. It’s also part of our famous Canadian Voyageur fur trade route and home to a number of Superior’s shipwrecks.
