3. Industry trends (please refer to statistics for references)
Consumers of Travel increasingly are looking for trips that involve activity/education/cultural activity. From start to finish the traveler is looking to learn.
Increased internet bookings
Consumer use of the internet to research and buy travel has grown to approximately 80%
Customer desire for a one-stop-shop
Consumers want to shop, compare and buy multiple brands and products from one web site
Consumers require access to endorsed product
Adventure travel lacks wide spread agency coverage for small to large tour operators- yet consumers want to experience this level of authenticity, and require a level of endorsement for products.
Suppliers of adventure travel are looking for partnerships to gain exposure
Due to budget and technical restraints many adventure tour suppliers do not have prominent representation online in a general term search.
New technology
Trip operators and distributors acknowledge the need for automated centralized distribution systems. Current central reservation systems designed for the travel industry do not accommodate the unique nature of the adventure travel trip.
Trip providers view word of mouth and Internet advertising more highly than print as a source for referrals
Adventure Engine has integrated the above list of industry needs and behaviors into its system and business model. We have created a flexible, customizable solution that can be adjusted to meet the diverse needs of adventure travel suppliers, distributors, end users and partners.

4. Common needs for PUBLICATIONS

To develop creative ways to add value for companies advertising with the Magazine who have tourism products/trips.
To increase reader involvement - Consumers currently use publications to research vacation ideas and gather information from a trusted source. Bookings trips from the same source is a very logical next step.
To increase involvement in travel bookings and other value added services in a cost effective manner without creating a new workload for employees.

5. Opportunities through Adventure Engine
  1. Increased value for magazine advertisers
    • Adventure Engine can provide distribution infrastructure for tourism suppliers advertising with publication. This can help provide incentive for advertisers recognizing that their clients are researching and booking online.
    • Adventure Engine's portal (virtual store front) can be customized to integrate into the current web site styling and colours. The portal can be constrained to show only trips sold by companies advertising, or featured in the publication.
    • Increased hits to advertisers' site and product - Surveys are showing that the internet is a high referral for suppliers. Advertising on publications with higher traffic result in increased exposure (sharing higher traffic visitors) and likelihood of selling trips through publication and /or having consumer link through to suppliers site.
    • No barrier to entry into Adventure Engine for advertisers that are suppliers of adventure travel.
    • Implied endorsement (Increased customer confidence, referral buyer behavior) - As the suppliers of the trips see the value of word of mouth to be the most successful referral type inclusion in your print and online media as a source of "validation" could incite similar behaviors in the consumer looking for a trusted supplier.
  2. Increased reader involvement
    • Adventure Engine can help publications increase and maintain their readership involvement by providing them with a valuable resource allowing readers to search, compare and buy the adventure travel vacations and experiences they read about in the magazine.
    • Consumers are looking for an educational experience through their travel. This is an excellent opportunity for publications to be more involved in their readership's learning including researching while reading, searching feature trips online, buying a trip, and later returning online to journal their experience. This creates more visits to the publication web site and to print media products.
    • Opportunity to leverage all of your products to ensure there is no loss to smaller online publications that may not have the print media readership.
    • New Partnerships - Adventure travel is not currently being sold through many traditional travel agency channels. Traditional travel agents lack the sophisticated understanding of the industry that adventure publications (e.g. Outside / Lonely Planet / Explore) and industry retail companies (e.g. REI, MEC, Merrell) possess. Consumers currently call these publications and retail outlets looking for referrals. Adventure Engine provides an excellent opportunity to develop creative partnerships and campaigns.
  3. Increased involvement without increased workload
    • With the revolutionary Adventure Engine portal technology, publications can provide their advertisers and readers with these valuable booking and referral services at low cost and without increasing the workload of current employees.
    • Our staff will provide you with any material you require to integrate this program easily. All sales, training, orientation, client and technical support are available for free to subscribers and all their advertisers, partners etc.
    • The system is designed to answer all the customer needs, and provide them with the supplier contact information. All payments are automated and receipts are auto-generated. Our staff will work with each supplier to ensure their experience is positive and straightforward for them.
  4. Increased revenue
    • For each trip booked through publication's Adventure Engine portal, a commission, as set by subscribing supplier, is earned. Commissions are tracked automatically and paid out quarterly.
  5. New marketing campaigns
    • Utilizing Adventure Engine tools such as our coupon system, publications can provide new marketing campaigns allowing readers to receive a discount for ordering their trip through the publication's web site
  6. Subscriptions - Link from Adventure Engine partners page provided.

6. Adventure Engine Technology
  1. A cutting edge application that is flexible, customizable, affordable and easy
The Adventure Engine technology allows publications to control short and long term relationships with advertisers. They can feature different Adventure Engine suppliers that purchase advertising on their site for any determined length of time.
  2. Easier site navigation for website visitors
The Adventure Engine portal could provide trip searches from the main page or any number of "book this trip" buttons to the Adventure Engine checkout. More importantly it will allow the consumer to search and compare quickly from trips according to real-time, up to the minute date availability. This supports the consumer trend to be able to search and compare quickly rather than clicking through text link directories and in and out of numerous websites.
  3. Sell gear and publication subscriptions.
The system could also manage in house gear and publication sales creating a more user friendly interface on the PUBLICATION site. Technical outline and customization quote be forwarded at request.
