Adventure Engine is a web based application which means you don’t have to invest in expensive software. Once you enter your trip information in the central database you access your own secure administration area with a personal login code. From this area you can edit your trips, update company information and most importantly process those sales that come in by phone, fax or email.

III. Marketing and Distribution – How Does It Work?

Once you have entered trips and seats into the system, the information is stored in the central Adventure Engine database. From here, using the shopping portals or XML feed technology, this information can be sent out to any distributor that has the Adventure Engine booking engine (portals) on their website. These portals allow customers to search, compare and buy the type of adventure trip they are looking for. Inventory is updated automatically when a sale is made regardless of what website it was made from.
Adventure Engine suppliers can take advantage of the increasing trend of consumers using the Internet to research and purchase their adventure holidays without spending time and money establishing relationships with major distributors or advertising on sites. A distributor could also include your local accommodators that are referring customer to you and of course your own agents you currently work with. Now they can check availability and book online right away!
There is no set commission required to participate but if you do choose to offer commissions these will be automatically tracked and paid out on your behalf when a sale is made. If you set up special arrangements with a distributor you can nominate individual commissions for them.

The Adventure Engine system uses 128 bit encryption (like a bank) and backs up its data every 60 seconds so all of your customer information is safe. You can download all reports and data to your system. But, if your computer crashes don’t worry as your data is safe on Adventure Engine. Your customer information is owned by you and is only accessible by you using your personal login code. 2. How it Works

I. Aggregation & Distribution
Adventure Engine aggregates the supplier inventory and then distributes this content through iFrame portals or outgoing XML feeds and web services to distributors (agents, partners, distributor network, application interfaces, other GDS, any gear or adventure related website, supplier’s own website, etc). Search results can be customized and constrained to show only suppliers, activities, &/or geographic ranges that the agent chooses. Adventure Engine distributes data to agents/ distributors by means of:


I.1. iFrame portals

Inset into agent website template and includes a set layout for each of the five stages of the search and purchase experience (1.search bar, 2.search results, 3.detailed itinerary, 4.shopping cart and 5.check out).

I.2. Agent / Operator interface – Net Rate Module

This module will allow agents to have a unique login access and the ability to purchase seat inventory at net rate amounts thus negating the need for an upfront credit card transaction. Activity is tracked by Adventure Engine and monthly statements prepared for both supplier and agent. The parties then complete their payables / receivables externally using the Adventure Engine reporting as back up. Net rate values can be customized for each agent as well as other privileges such as which trips they can sell, ability to process transfers/refunds, discounts and whether they can view reports.

This will save your agency an enormous amount of administrative time and expense and reduces errors occurring during manual data transfers.

I.3. Web Services (raw data feed used to populate your site or application)

Can populate a new “Adventure” tab in agent dashboards / online travel websites along side the current Air and Hotels they already have.
A user can query, or ‘call’, the Adventure Engine database for relevant information using any number of search parameters such as activity type or geography. Distributors create their own interface systems to receive AEI’s web service or can contract Adventure Engine to create services for them to perform calls and display. Web services give more freedom with the design, layout and manner in which the data is displayed on a web site or application system but Inset into agent website template and includes a set layout for each of the five stages of the search and purchase experience (1.search bar, 2.search results, 3.detailed itinerary, 4.shopping cart and 5.check out).



II.4. RSS Feeds to agents and consumers to provide instant updates on Company Tours

Adventure Engine can create RSS feeds for your organization based on geographical destination, seat sales, latest trips added/ edited and more. This is an excellent addition to hard copy marketing and communication you may be doing. Adventure Engine samples can be viewed at http://www.adventureengine.com/feeds.php

Note: I frame portals and Web services require a credit card payment in order to secure the booking and adjust the seat inventory from the central AEI database.

How it works:
i) Suppliers load their trips to Adventure Engine either manually or with XML feeds. This includes items such as trip summary, itinerary, prices, availability, min/max seats, price variables, add-ons, gear requirements, terms/waivers, photos, and more.
ii) Suppliers set a universal commission rate for all distributors /agents but have the ability to program unique commissions for preferred distributors.
iii) When a sale is completed Adventure Engine handles transactions, commission payments to agents, and forwards remaining revenues to suppliers all via electronic funds transfer twice / month unless otherwise arranged.
iv) Seat inventory is immediately updated in the system regardless of where or how the sale was made (by supplier, distributor, or customer; using I frame portals or web services, processed online or not) sale is tracked, and automated emails are sent to all parties.
v) Supplier and agents can login to Adventure Engine at any time to review activity. AEI sends monthly statements detailing all activity.

Commissions
Company will advise AEI of minimum base commission requirements for member agents as well as the % required by Company. AEI will negotiate this commission on behalf of all parties, communicating minimum requirements to all trip suppliers. AEI will track all sales activity, forward commissions owing electronically and provide monthly statements to each agent member generating activity.

Company and members will also be able to view supplier profiles including commissions programmed. If any member would like to create a unique relationship and higher commission with any of AEI suppliers the agent can contact the supplier one to one. If unique commission is agreed on the AEI system can be used to set and track these relationships.

General Functionality includes:
Commission tracking
Commission payment (unless netrate or advanced webservice utlizing distributor merchant account)
Reporting
Administration login area

Training and Support
All Client Care and IT support is offered free of charge. AEI is available to complete demo presentations, training and orientation at the convenience of Company members.
In addition, AEI will coordinate regular Product Knowledge Webinars by activity and region and invite representative suppliers to attend and provide background, education and Q&A.

The introduction of the Portal program, at no cost to agents with training, support and product information webinars will provide a good foundation for gauging agent uptake of the product. As the Company platform is being finalized this window of time for the portal program should allow us to review feasibility for integration of web services and additional functionality required.

3. Implementation options

Implementation of Adventure Engine can be completed in phased approaches or in use of one option or another.
Adventure Engine would suggest that a natural progression for companies looking to the webservice solution includes:

PHASE I – iFrame portal / shopping portal

Agents/ distributors can place an AEI iFrame shopping portal on their website.
The same portal will be offered to all Company members but with a unique login ID so individual member sales can be tracked.

The iFrame portal will serve three main functions:
1. Unique Value add -Create a unique value added service to web site visitors.
2. Turnkey revenue -Provide a source of adventure trips and tours for member agents to review, research and resell.
3. Education! It is important that agents and thier clients are introduced to the opportunity of Adventure Travel (this can occur while webservices are being constructed)
Customers can review options on their own and then follow up with agents for more info, or agents can suggest product to customer and either purchase on their behalf or recommend the shopping portal.

I frame portals are intended for end user use. The shopping portal is not a streamlined application for agents to use to bundle with other products as trips cannot be added to the same invoice as air and accommodations and a credit card is required for purchase at retail rates but it is an excellent first step to put over 1000 trips in front of Company’s member and will be used to determine agent interest (see phase II for complete integration).

Trips from the AEI database can be fed directly into the Company platform. Agents will then have the option to add ‘live and book-able adventure with up to date seat availability’ alongside existing products such as air and accommodation.

AEI offers five web services proving a straight data feed to subscriber’s site allowing the subscriber to have complete control over site design, layout, positioning etc.
